We’ve been the Jewish heart of Block Island for many years, providing a welcoming place for prayer and community. With the support of our members and donors, we offer islanders and visitors a meaningful space to gather for Shabbat and High Holiday services. Our congregation is volunteer-run, except on Rosh Hashanah and Yom Kippur when we hire a cantor/rabbi to lead us in prayer.

Membership Benefits
Congregation Sons & Daughters of Ruth (CSDR) is proud to be the only Jewish congregation on Block Island. Whether you contribute $18, $36, $180, or more, your donation helps sustain Jewish community on our island.
Annual membership rate is $36 per person.
Prayer services
We offer egalitarian prayer services every Friday at 8 PM from Memorial day through Labor Day, with high holiday services too.
Kiddush
We start services with Shabbat candle lighting and always conclude with challah, grape juice, and wine.
Grants
We are proud to offer high school students on Block Island grants based on an essay and community service.
